Infected?

I got an MRI done on my foot today, and 3 hours later my podiatrist called saying he wanted to see me asap. My dad and I went in at 3:30 and Dr. Chudy said that the MRI's revealed abnormalities and what could be an infection in my joint. This is considered an emergency situation because the infection could eat away the joint (causing osteoarthritis) and then proceed to my bone, which would then have to be cut to remove the infection. He numbed my foot and gave me laughing gas so he could try to collect fluid from the joint and send it to the lab for diagnosis, but the joint is so small and he was only able to collect mainly blood. I was referred to his colleague, which I'm going to tomorrow morning. If he evaluates me as infected, then I'm going to be scheduled for surgery that day or the next. Yuck. I want to be normal again. At least I'm getting close...I think.
